Bellwether Australian Share Fund outperforms peers

  • November 01 2005

The 30th of September 2005 was an important milestone for Bellwether Partners as it represented the end of the first complete four quarters of the life of the Australian Share Fund. I am delighted to tell you that performance for the month of September, the quarter and year was higher than that recorded by any of the funds covered in the most recent Intech survey of Australian equity managers.

Although The Bellwether Partners Australian Share Fund is not yet included in the Intech Australian Shares Interim Survey, the substantiation of returns provided by our external Administrator (FinancialBPO), makes it appropriate to compare our performance with that reported in the survey.

The performance achieved has validated the back-testing data on our quantitative process in the period prior to the launch of the fund, and verified the months of work that went into development of the qualitative stage. Our structure, involving tight integration of the skills of portfolio management, dealing and analysis and drawing on the more than 100 years experience of the members of the Investment Team, allows rapid assimilation of information and has visibly added value.

October is proving to be a challenging month as were a number of others over the past year. However we are comfortable that we have identified value and that the portfolio is well positioned. Over the next twelve months we will concentrate on continuing to deliver superior returns to our investors and upon building the Bellwether “brand”.

Bellwether Partners establishes internal Australian Equities Long / Short Portfolio

  • February 1 2005

The Principals and Staff of Bellwether Partners Limited have seeded an internal portfolio which will be managed on an absolute return basis.

The underlying investment methodology of this portfolio draws heavily from our proprietary quantitative process which is already successfully employed in the Australian Share Fund. The new portfolio however will have the ability to take both long and short positions in Australian listed companies.

Bellwether Partners have conducted extensive research and financial modeling prior to implementing this investment approach and are confident in the integrity and robustness of the underlying investment methodology.
