Celebrating the Three Year Anniversary of the Bellwether Partners Australian Share Fund
- 12 September 2007
August 2007's reporting marks the Three Year Anniversary of the Bellwether Partners Share Fund.
The team at Bellwether are delighted with not only the Fund's absolute performance over the period, but also the level of outperformance agains the benchmark (S&P ASX 300 Accumulation) that the Fund has acheived of 5.43% per annum.
If you are a regular reader of our Fund Performance Reports, you will know that the M&A themes dominating investment markets in the past year has not favoured our fundamentally based and disciplined investment process. Despite this, we have managed to lock in outstanding returns within balanced and sensible portfolios. By staying true to our methodology Bellwether have been able to add value at the stock level and avoid unduly risky speculative bets.
When the market climate favours our process, as it has during the previous three months, we see exceptional returns like 3.54% outperformance for the quarter; a Fund return of 3.56% against a benchmark return of 0.02%. This is particularly gratifying given the poor and highly volatile market conditions for that period generated by the US sub prime crisis.
In the coming year Bellwether looks foward to bringing the Australian Share Fund methodology to a wider, institutional market.
Industry Publication Investment & Technology writes about Bellwether
- September 07
I&T's September issue featured an article written by Catherine James in which Bellwether's MD Bruce Bell is quoted.
The article discusses the practice of Investment Management staff investing in their own managed Funds and having "skin in the game". Bellwether strongly believes that having Investment personnel manage their own money creates a greater alignment between the Manager and the interests of investors.
